Joseph M. Marshall III is an author, Lakota craftsman, lecturer, actor, primitive archer, and historical consultant. He was born and raised on the Rosebud Sioux Reservation and his first language is Lakota. Marshall is the author of ten books, including one for children. He has also contributed to several publications and written several screenplays. Many of his books have been published in French, Hebrew, Korean, and Italian. Marshall’s latest work can be seen and heard in Turner Network Television and Dreamworks’s epic television miniseries Into the West. He was the series’s Native technical advisor, the Native voiceover narrator, and appeared as a Lakota medicine man.
